How Does It Work?

Kybella is a synthetic formulation of deoxycholic acid – a substance that is naturally occurs in your body. This substance, when synthesized, is used to break down and absorb dietary fat. For over 9 years Kybella has been under development and has been the subject of over 20 clinical studies involving more than 2,600 patients.  When injected into the fat under the chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells.  Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.  Therefore re-treatment is not expected.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

What is the Recovery Process?

The most common side-effects are swelling, bruising, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area.  Swelling can last between 4 and 7 days and any bruising can easily be covered with make-up. It is best to avoid strenuous activity immediately after treatment as it can prolong swelling and increase bruising.
